1 Corrected a problem introduced in release 2013.1.3.138 where XML files produced for Quebec Relevé slips were not assigned electronic serial numbers.  Relevé slips prepared with any other release of AvanTax eForms other than 2013.1.3.138 were prepared correctly

March 21, 2014 (Production Release 2013.1.3.138)
1 Fixed a problem where columns 12 and 13 on the T5013 Schedule 8 may have printed as blank even though the correct numbers were displayed on the data entry screen.
2 Fixed a problem where Boxes B1 and B2 were reversed on the RL-8 summary.

February 27, 2014 (Production Release 2013.1.3.137)
1 The Quebec Partnership Information Return (TP-600) now uses the 2013 forms for the return and its associated schedules.
2 The printed T5013 slip did not include the postal code in the recipient's address.   This has been corrected.

February 17, 2014 (Production Release 2013.1.3.136)
1 The federal Partnership Information Return (T5013) now use the 2013 forms.   Additionally, the T5013 slips may now be submitted to CRA electronically via XML.  The electronic filing of the T5013FIN (the actual partnership return) will be available in a future release of AvanTax eForms.
2 The Quebec partnership forms will be updated in a future release of AvanTax eForms
3 Fixed a problem with the detail section of the adjustment report: when printing multiple companies, only the first company printed showed the detail section properly.

December 19, 2013 (Early-Production Release 2013.1.2.132)
1 All forms and XML output have been updated to the 2013 version where applicable with the exception of the following:
  • The federal and Quebec partnership forms will be updated in a future release of AvanTax eForms.

June 25, 2013 (Pre-Production Release 2013.1.1.110)
1 All Forms printing / XML output is in 2012 format, but may be used for filing 2013 returns.
2 The Quebec TP-64.3-V has been added to the selection of forms available in AvanTax eForms.
3 The Quebec RL-11, RL-22, RL-24 and RL-27 have been added to the selection of forms available in AvanTax eForms.  These forms are currently being reviewed by Revenue Quebec. Until approval is received the printed forms will include a watermark indicating that it is for demonstration purposes only.  Additionally, XML filing is suppressed for these forms.
4 A company tag has been added to the company setup screen.  This company tag will allow the user to distinguish between companies which have exactly the same name.  The company tag is not included on any government form or submission file but is used internally in selection lists and other reports.
5 A number of improvements have been made to the performance of the import from spreadsheet and from CSV files.
6 T5 slips and Quebec RL-3 slips can now be completely disassociated for those users who need to process one of these slips independently from the other.
7 Enterprise users will be able to utilize a subset tag to filter and process groups of slips.   For example, in the case of T5 slips, you can print and file slips which have only a specified subset tag, such as 'Batch 2' or 'June T5s'.
8 The slip type (i.e., Original, Amended, Cancelled) may now be changed for any group of slips using Tools > Global Changes > Slip Information.

1 Fixed a problem with the netnode.exe install program which created an icon pointing to AvanTax eForms 2012 instead of the 2013 release.

Converting Prior Year Program and User Settings

Your tax slip data can be rolled forward from the 2012 T4 TimeSaver by selecting Convert Last Year's Databases from the Tools menu or Convert a 2012 Database from the File menu.  AvanTax eForms does not automatically import user settings from the previous year's software during the installation process.  You may use Import User Information from Last Year's T4 TimeSaver from the Tools menu to import user information.

System Requirements

AvanTax eForms is designed for and tested on the following Windows platforms:  Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 sp2 or higher must be installed on the computer. If, during program installation, a Network Administrator Installation is selected, the .NET Framework installation package will be copied to the network location and will be installed if required when NETNODE.EXE is run.  If a Workstation Installation is selected and the Framework is not installed, you will be prompted to download the  .NET Framework installation  package from the Internet.

Installing AvanTax eForms

If you downloaded the install file (eForms2013Setup.exe) from www.avantax.ca, simply run it and follow the instructions.  If you are installing from a CD, insert the CD and wait a few seconds for the setup program to start up. If it does not start automatically, run D:SETUP.EXE (replacing D: with the drive letter of your CD drive). Follow the on-screen instructions.  If you are running Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 you may have to right click on the installation file and select "Run as administrator" to start the installation.

Network Installation

If you want to run AvanTax eForms from more than one workstation, you can do a Workstation installation on each computer, but for ease of installation and centralizing subsequent program updates, it is recommended that you install the program on a network drive where it can be accessed by all network users. This type of installation is called a Network Administrator installation.

When you start the installation, select "Network Administrator" as the type of installation and complete the installation to a network drive. Then run NETNODE.EXE from each workstation to install the program on the workstations. A shortcut will be created on the workstation's desktop and in the Start menu.

When installed as a "node", AvanTax eForms can also run in off-line mode, which allows laptop users to run the program when out of the office (accessing local data and user settings), and then reconnect to the network when back in the office.

Registering AvanTax eForms

To register this copy of the program simply enter the unique authorization code issued to you by ELM Computer Systems. Until this code is entered, the program will print "VOID" on the slips and summaries, and some of the features of AvanTax eForms Standard or Enterprise will be unavailable. You may continue to use AvanTax eForms without registering the program. All the data you enter will be saved. The opportunity to register will be available every time you start the program until registration has been completed.

Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader

AvanTax eForms uses the free Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing returns (slips and summaries). You must have Acrobat 5.x or above. To install or upgrade Acrobat Reader you may download Acrobat Reader from Adobe's website http://get.adobe.com/reader.   If you have difficulty downloading or installing the software, visit Adobe's website at www.adobe.com.
